Her grandson had brought her but he was intent on whatever was pouring into his ears. When we needed information from him, we had to get his attention. Her medical emergency wasn’t important to him.

Saying this a bad phenomenon makes it a judgement and I don’t see why Bowman is making it so. The family he describes is certainly not having their kids ruining others’ meals.

The Singularists claim we will advance by adding technology to our senses/abilities. So, to me, this is just a step in that direction.
