Raton Earthquake

I have always wanted to be on Raton Pass when they had an earthquake, just to see. Or come along after one but it never worked out on all my trips to Texas. But last night, just before midnight, they had a Big One: 5.3!

OK. They had several! Usually these only happen one at a time; this was a lot of movement.

We live about 100 miles NNW of the site so didn’t feel a thing. This is the biggest ‘quake since 1973 according to the Denver Post

I am sure road crews are out this morning clearing rocks and boulders off I-25!
