I got this email regarding this video:

    Charlie,

Good morning. I can imagine how this song would hit you between the eyes! I’ve spent time pondering how you deal with your knowledge of the limits of your life. Most of us look forward to an indefinate future, always assuming we will have many more years than we will likely have. I personally put off many things and do not take the gift of each day as seriously and to heart as I ought to. Yet, I can’t imagine being in your position. I don’t know if I would be like you and grab each day with both hands, or if I would go into such a funk that I would lose all the time I had left. I must tell you, I admire your strength and your courage and I am honored to call you my friend. I pray you have a wonderful day.

With her permission, I am responding to it here.

It has taken some adjustment but seeing my life ending makes me more aware of the value of each day. But I have an advantage: I have looked the Grim Reaper in the face several times and walked away. I should have died years ago but kept getting reprieves. Now I am getting postponements!

You are right: those are the two choices. But I see it as my having stuff to get done! Including making the rest of my life meaningful and productive. I have a bucket list so that provides an outline of what i need to do.

And I am a Reincarnationist and KNOW what will happen to me when I die. The world will go on without me and I will be back, hopefully to lead a better life the next time! Nothing to get pessimistic about for me.
